How to Install Mods & CC for The Sims 4 on macOS
Have a PC? Go to Windows Instructions →
1. Locating and Unzipping Your Mod Files
Start by navigating to your downloaded mod files in Finder, typically located in your Downloads folder.
- If you downloaded the files using Safari, they will automatically unzip. Otherwise, macOS can easily unzip them by double-clicking. This will create a folder with the same name as the zip file. If your download is in another format, like "tar.gz" or "rar", I recommend installing The Unarchiver. It will allow you to unzip these formats by double-clicking them.
- Important: If you have a .ts4script file, do not double click it/unzip it.
Open or expand the folder and move the window aside for the next step.
Can't find your Downloads folder?
- Click the Finder icon on the far left of your Dock.
- In the top menu, open the "Go" menu and select "Downloads".
2. Locating Your TS4 Mods Folder
Now, open a new Finder window:
- Go to the "File" menu and select "New Finder Window".
- Navigate to your Documents folder.
- From there, go to Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, and open the Mods folder.
Can't find your Documents folder?
- With Finder active, open the "Go" menu at the top of your screen and select "Documents".
3. Installing the Mods
With both Finder windows open side-by-side, highlight the package/script files you uncompressed and drag them into your Mods folder.
Once you've moved them, you can either drag the leftover files to the Trash or right-click and select "Move to Trash".
Note: If you organize your Mods into folders, make sure script files are no more than one folder deep, as they won’t load properly if they’re nested further.
4. Enabling Mods & CC in The Sims 4
If this is your first time using Mods, you'll need to adjust a few settings in the game:
- Open the Game Options menu and go to the Other tab.
- Make sure Enable Custom Content and Mods and Script Mods Allowed are both checked.
- Restart your game if any settings were changed.
