How to Install Mods & CC for The Sims 4 on Windows 10 and 11
Have a Mac? Go to macOS Instructions →
1. Locating and Unzipping Your Mod Files
First, navigate to your downloaded mod files in File Explorer, typically located in your Downloads folder.
- Double-click to open the zipped folder and move the window aside for the next step.
If your mod files are in a format like "tar.gz" or "rar", I recommend installing 7-Zip to unzip them.
2. Locating Your TS4 Mods Folder
- In File Explorer, expand This PC in the sidebar.
- Right-click the Documents folder and select Open in New Window.
- Navigate to Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods.
3. Installing the Mods
With both windows open side-by-side, highlight the package/script files in the zip folder and drag them into your Mods folder.
Once the files are moved, you can drag the zip file and any leftover files to the Recycle Bin.
Note: If you organize your Mods into folders, make sure that script files are no more than one folder deep, as they won’t load properly if nested further.
4. Enabling Mods & CC in The Sims 4
If this is your first time using Mods, you'll need to adjust a few settings in the game:
- Open the Game Options menu and go to the Other tab.
- Make sure Enable Custom Content and Mods and Script Mods Allowed are both checked.
- Restart your game if any settings were changed.
